BALTIMORE (AP)—The Baltimore Ravens couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add a talented pass catcher to their roster: three-time Pro Bowl standout Anquan Boldin.

Baltimore obtained Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday for a third- and fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft. Baltimore also got a fifth-round pick from Arizona.

The 29-year-old Boldin has amassed at least 1,000 yards receiving in five of his seven seasons, including 1,024 yards on 84 catches last season.

Boldin received a new four-year, $28 million deal with Baltimore in which $10 million is guaranteed. He was to set to earn $3 million next season, the last of the four-year, $22.5 million deal he signed with Arizona after the 2005 season.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The logo for Super Bowl XLV in Arlington is a simple, monochromatic design featuring the Lombardi Trophy towering over Cowboys Stadium.

The logo also marks another first for Cowboys Stadium and the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee. With Super Bowl XLV, the logo unveiled by the NFL on Thursday will become the permanent design for the Super Bowl.

NFL chief marketing officer Mark Waller said the league wanted to emphasize the silver Lombardi Trophy, given to each year's Super Bowl winner, in a strong and modern design.

"This really reflects the stature and pre-eminence of the Super Bowl, and now it will reflect the games and stadiums," Waller said.

So in the future, each Super Bowl host will be allowed to regionalize the logo with its stadium.

Super Bowl is most watched TV show ever

NEW YORK (AP)—The New Orleans Saints’ victory over Indianapolis in the Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of “M-A-S-H” to become the most-watched program in U.S. television history, the Nielsen Co. said Monday.

Compelling story lines involving the city of New Orleans and its ongoing recovery from Hurricane Katrina and the attempt at a second Super Bowl ring for Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning(notes) propelled the viewership. Football ratings have been strong all season.

“It was one of those magical moments that you don’t often see in sports,” said Sean McManus, president of CBS News and Sports.

Nielsen estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched Sunday’s Super Bowl. The “M-A-S-H” record was 105.97 million.

The viewership estimate obliterated the previous record viewership for a Super Bowl—last year’s game between Arizona and Pittsburgh. That game was seen by 98.7 million people, Nielsen said.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP)—All-time greats Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith led a class of seven into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The NFL’s career receiving and rushing leaders were joined in the Hall by John Randle, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little and Dick LeBeau. Little and LeBeau were elected as senior committee nominees.

“I am just honored … to stand up there with greatness,” Rice added before breaking down in tears.

Rice and Smith both made it in their first year of eligibility. They were elected a day before the Super Bowl, a game they each won three times.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP)—Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice are virtual shoo-ins for election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

NFL union leader paints bleak picture of future

By TIM REYNOLDS, AP Sports Writer

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP)—The question to DeMaurice Smith was simple, coming from Cincinnati receiver Chad Ochocinco, asking how serious he viewed the possibility of football not being played in 2011.

Smith did not hesitate.

“On a scale of 1 to 10,” Smith said Thursday, “it’s a 14.”

With that, the executive director of the NFL Players Association painted perhaps the bleakest picture yet regarding prospects of labor strife in the league, which could be looking at a 2010 season with no salary cap and, if the collective bargaining agreement expires as scheduled in March 2011, a lockout that year.

Who Dat ? …...The Saints Dat Who. by RJINTAMPA

It has been awhile since I have written an article, and I do apologize for that, as I have been busy, and busy first with the summer and then came the classes.

First off, what a great NFL season it has been, from Brett Favre playing in purple for the Vikings and winning two games one in Minnesota and the other one at historic Lambeau Field against his former team, and now arch rival the Green Bay Packers. Favre played at a high level here is his stats for the 2009 season.

QB Rating YDS TD
107.2 4,202 33

… Now onto the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts who are playing this Sunday, in Miami for Super Bowl XLVI. I think everyone in nation besides Hoosiers of course, will be rooting for the Saints, everyone knows the story with the city of New Orleans, so I wont defer into that one bit, however it is a pretty amazing come back story and a super bowl victory for that city would only add to it nonetheless.

From an NFL prospective, both offensives units that will be on showcase this Sunday, are great. Peyton Manning vs. Drew Bress, Quarterback play does get any better on the same field then that. With that said, this game will come down to the team that can make the plays on the defensive side of the ball. I think that saints will risk, the rushing the passer penalties, as they did when they played Brett Favre and his Minnesota Vikings.

If the New Orleans Saints execute that plan which I think they will, the city of New Orleans and the Who Dat nation will be Super Bowl Champions.

There aren't too many athletes out there I applaud, but Kurt Warner is definitely one of those that I do applaud. He's earned a lot of respect.

Thanks, Kurt!

Good luck to you!

Let the Brett Favre drama begin...
