There were a few stories earlier this week discussing how he'll get his first glimpse of a venomous opposing fanbase Wednesday when his team visited the Spring Training home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Granted, it's a meaningless at-bat, but A-Rod hit a home run in his first official at-bat of the spring, taking Ricky Romero deep. Again, we can't understate how meaningless this particular at-bat is in the grand scheme of things. I get that. I do, however, think it's a harbinger of things to come. As I've said before in a post on his fantasy baseball value, A-Rod is a competitor. One of the biggest in the game. He's going to come out this season with a vengeance just to spite the seemingly infinite line of people who despise his every action. One meaningless game, one home run, one statement. __________________
