BALTIMORE(AP)—Alex Rodriguez got right back into the swing for the New York Yankees, hitting a home run in his first at-bat.

Rodriguez hit a three-run homer Friday night on the first pitch he saw from Baltimore’s Jeremy Guthrie. The Yankees activated Rodriguez off the disabled list before the game.

Rodriguez had been out this season since having hip surgery. He drew a mix of cheers and boos when he stepped to the plate in the first inning, then hit the 554th home run of his career.
