The resident Cowboys Chick Posts: 648 Group: SUPER MOD SQUAD Member #211 Joined: February 18, 2007	Dan Rooney Likely To Step Down In June Posted by Aaron Wilson on May 31, 2009, 8:38 a.m. Pittsburgh Steelers team owner Dan Rooney will vacate his position as chairman of the team in June following the highly-respected NFL power broker’s anticipated Senate confirmation as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Per the report, Rooney’s son, Art Rooney II, will continue to act in the same capacity as team president. After resigning from every NFL committee he was previously on, Rooney is expected to hold the title of chairman emeritus of the Steelers going forward. Rooney was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Meanwhile, the closing date on the Steelers’ reshuffled ownership group has been moved back once again. Now, it’s expected to officially close later in June.
